Festive Quick and Easy Outdoor Garden Inspiration – Christmas Arrangement

A close up of the quick and easy Christmas planter arrangement with #dustymiller β€˜new look’ and #calocephalus β€˜silver stone’ providing contrast to #poinsettia and #pinecones. Scattered about, varying the forms and textures to engage the eyes and encourage the eyes to travel throughout. The red poinsettia offers a festive feel. The silver foliage mimics snow and provides contrast. Lastly, each pine cone was hand picked to have hints of grey to tie into the silver foliage. The pine cones also contribute to the festive feel and adds a rustic element. Enjoy and have a great day! πŸ˜˜πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈβ£οΈ

Halloween Spooky Jar Decor

Halloween is right around the corner so I spent some quality time making these spooky decorative jars with my son. These supplies were purchased at a crafts store.
Now that I have kids, I am making a stronger effort to make our house a home. I see that it excites them and it adds to the memories we are making together.
With kids, we get busier and things get more hectic. I found that involving the kids as much as possible has allowed me to get more done. Sometimes I assign mundane tasks like putting sticker barcodes on products or separating skulls and eyeballs makes them happy. It makes them feel important and gives them a sense of confidennce. It never used to be this way. I used to not want them around while I was working because I didn’t want them to break or ruin something. I choose my battles and tasks better now and I am learning to become a better mom every day.
I demonstrated how I put the SPOOKY jars together on a video. If you guys are interested in checking it out.

Traditional Chic, Shabby Chic or Old World?

When I made the decision to design my office a traditional style, my biggest concern was that it was going to look too old world. I wanted sophisticated, vintage, nostalgic, chic and refreshing. My furniture was all mahogany which made this room feel dark (not so refreshing). I wanted to have my furniture refinished to white but didn’t want it to look too shabby chic. I was treading on thin ice. It was a fine line between old world, traditional chic and shabby chic. I finally decided to go white on most of the furniture while adding hints of vintage details to maintain the nostalgic feel. It has worked out well so far. The journey continues to fine tune my vision but I feel much closer than I was 2 years ago.

Home Office Design

When I laid eyes on this medallion a few years back, it was love at first sight. It is elegant, graceful, whimsical and beautiful. This architectural detail fit my vision for what I wanted in my home office. Since then, I have made design and buying decisions with this piece in mind. Now that I am finally adding extra lighting into my office, it is finally time to add this special detail and the chandelier I envisioned with it.

Transformation of Plain Doors

I have never been the type of person to settle for plain. I always had a vision for transformation, stylize something, anything to suit my own personal taste. It was always viewed as an opportunity to express myself. I was given a pair of brass dragon door knockers and I always envisioned them on my dream doors. In the past, they were used as wall decor or towel hangers.Β Now, is my opportunity to finally use them.

I have an eclectic mix of style. I love and appreciate pretty much of everything. My goal is to design a door that incorporates all the elements that I like and have them flow cohesively. First, we painted the doors red. This color is a Benjamin Moore ‘Ruby Red’. Then, we mounted the knockers on. I am beginning to like it already!

31636c964442af0eebb5b08c406301bdNext, I measured the doors and sketched out the millwork design that I would like to apply to the doors. I worked around the door knockers making them the focal point of the design. When selecting the moulding, I wanted something with height to give the door and greater sense of depth. I also chose a relatively thin moulding to maintain it’s overall proportion and scale to the design, as well as to the doors. With a few basic tools and a miter saw, we got working.

Now that we installed the millwork, we will sand it down, prime and paint it. Can you guess what color I am going to paint it? Stay tuned!
